Earth spinning faster than usual:

On June 29, 2022, Earth made its fastest rotation, It completed one spin in 1.59 milliseconds less than 24 hours and July 26, 2022 there was day that lasted for 1.50 milliseconds less. Scientists note that 2020 had the 28 shortest days since 1960. In 2020, Earth recorded its shortest month was July 19 was recorded to be the shortest day of that year and It was 1.47 milliseconds under 24 hours. As yet, scientists are not entirely sure what is causing this increase in Earth’s rotation rate, but some have suggested it could be due to the melting of glaciers due to Global Warming during the 20th Century, or the accumulation of large quantities of water in northern hemisphere reservoirs.

The cause of the differing speed of Earth’s spin might be due to some theories as

1. Due to the melting of glaciers at polar ices caps.
2. Seismic activity could be another related cause.
3. The molten core of our planet’s interior is moving over time.
4. The movement of Earth’s geographic poles across its surface.
